Mayflower Restaurant
About This Spot
Stepping into Mayflower Restaurant on Duke Street feels like entering a quietly cherished corner of Liverpool's vibrant culinary tapestry. The space hums with a gentle rhythm—unrushed yet attentive—a little slice of familiar warmth amid the city's energetic pulse. This is a place where the pace slows just enough to savor both the company around you and the food arriving at your table.
Mayflower’s atmosphere carries a lived-in comfort that speaks to decades of gatherings and shared moments. Its walls have witnessed family celebrations and spontaneous dinners alike, and that history quietly colors the mood with a sense of belonging rather than formality. The service may be simple, but it moves with sincerity, making each visit feel like a welcome return rather than a first encounter.
On the plate, there’s a clear respect for authenticity—dishes crafted with care by hands experienced in the rich traditions of Hong Kong cooking. The flavors are steady and familiar, conjuring cozy evenings with friends or a laid-back night out when you crave something comforting but thoughtful. Spring rolls with just the right crisp, ribs kissed by a signature sauce, and bowls of hot and sour soup that warm more than just the body—all those tastes unfold naturally here.
Mayflower is one of those quietly enduring gems that might not shout for attention but rewards those who return with a deepening appreciation. It’s not about flashy trends; rather, it’s the steady comfort of good food, subtle hospitality, and a space that welcomes the everyday moments worth revisiting.

Had dinner with my group last night. There're only two waitresses serving us but they served us really fast. The food is just ok.

Don't believe everything you hear or read about this place (I've read a lot of negative reviews). I'm 54 and have been coming here since a child with my parents and family. We have had many family celebrations here. Always able to accommodate even when a last minute walk in. Service always been prompt but needs to improve when busy. Never been disappointed with food presentation or taste. Have taken friends here and they have enjoyed it. Always a good atmosphere in here. Usual regular scousers with their families come here repeatedly. Always chat between tables. Sizzling Steak Cantonese, Chicken Satay & Duck are my faves here. Give it a try!

Came here to celebrate with my family and ordered a variety of dishes! The food here always never disappoints and is cooked by an authentic Hong Kong chef. The quality of the ingredients they use is always very fresh and value for money. Mayflower maybe on a higher price point compared to their neighbors but they are a heritage restaurant. Being here for more than 20 years, you can definitely rely on their long standing reputation. Service may sometimes be a little slower but the food is always worth the wait. Some of the waitresses here are not good in English so it may take them abit of time to understand what you want. But hey, you come for the authentic Chinese experience right? Will definitely be back again!
